Oculus Rift is now the cheaper premium VR headset on PC, thanks to a new price cut

Oculus Rift and the Touch controllers are now more affordable than the competition.

Oculus has announced that it's dropping the price of the Rift headset, as well as the recently released Touch controllers.

The company cut $100 off the price of each of them, bringing it down to $598 for the headset and just $99 for the Touch controllers. The announcement was first made during Epic's keynote at GDC 2017, surprising everyone.

That said, it's the Touch price cut that stings more, seeing as the long-delayed controllers only launched in December. Today, you're able to buy a Rift headset bundled with a pair of Touch controllers for $600.

This effectively makes it the cheaper premium VR headset available on PC, compared to the HTC Vive and its controllers, which still cost $800. The new prices are already in effect, and can be seen on the Oculus Store as well as at other retailers such as Amazon.

Robo Recall, Epic's VR shooter, has also been released on the Rift, completely free.
