Nvidia Shield release date set after manufacturing delay

Nividia's Shield will be shipped next week, following a month-long delay.

Nvidia has confirmed a ship date of July 31 for the handheld.

"We want to thank you for your patience and for sticking with us through the shipment delay of your Shield," the company said in an announcement.

"Our goal has always been to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted Shield to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry. We built Shield because we love playing games, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

The Android-based tablet (of sorts), which features a control-pad like casing and is capable of streaming games from your PC, was originally expected at the end of June but was pushed back due to concerns over a third-party component.

Take a look at the Shield's final form; Nvidia recently dropped the ticket price by $50, which is not to be sneezed at.

Thanks, Polygon.
