Persson left Minecraft duties at the end of last year to take a breather and work on new material, handing over the lead developer role of the game to Jens Bergensten.

He told us at the ceremony tonight, just after coming off stage from picking up the BAFTA Special Award, that he's currently working on three new projects in his post-Minecraft life.

"I'm kinda halfway through one, started somewhat the engine on one and prototyping a third, so I hope to pick a project by this summer," said Persson.

He also said it would continue to reiterate on Minecraft rather than delivering a sequel, adding he wasn't "a fan" of making sequels.

"I think we're gonna stick to the same Minecraft and keep adding to it," he said.

"I'm not really a huge fan of making sequels. I think games can be made in a different way, but it can keep living for a long time."

Persson was speaking to Sam Clay at the ceremony tonight. Watch the full interview above.
