Nosgoth development canceled, servers will go offline May 31

Nosgoth, the Legacy of Kain spin-off in development at Rocket League studio Psyonix, has been canceled by Square Enix.

Available through Steam Early Access for a year, Square said the decision to cancel the title wasn't an easy one to make, but the "audience hasn't grown enough to sustain ongoing operations."

Those who are playing Nosgoth will have until May 31 to spend time in the game before the servers go offline.

Purchases can no longer be made for the game, and anyone who spent real money through the store since March 1 will receive a refund.

Square said the cancellation will not affect any future Legacy of Kain projects, as those will be "considered independently of Nosgoth and on the merits of the proposals alone," a spokesperson told Eurogamer.

The free-to-download competitive multiplayer game was confirmed to be in development back in June 2013 after rumors of it surfaced the prior month.
