North American 3DS StreetPass Weekend kicks off in a few days

Nintendo has announced a StreetPass Weekend for North American 3DS owners.

According to the moderately distrubing video below, StreetPass Weekend runs December 14 and 15. During the event, Nintendo Zone locations will gather StreetPass data from all over North America, and by "putting them all together and mixing them around" allow you to StreetPass with users all over the country rather than just those in the same zone.

This is an extension of StreetPass Relay Points, one of the newer features of Nintendo Zone hotspots, which allows users to receive asynchronous StreetPass data from the last six visitors to a site.

Information on where to access Nintendo Zone is available directly from Nintendo of America.

The UK held a National StreetPass Day earlier this year with various prizes and special events on offer.
