No Man's Sky: Beyond's Nexus social space supports up to 32-players depending on platform

No Man's Sky: Beyond is a rather large expansion to the game, and it includes an interesting addition: the Nexus social space.

Speaking with IGN, Hello Games' Sean Murray broke down what's included in the No Man's Sky: Beyond update. In the interview he discussed VR support, expanding the multiplayer aspect, and how the Nexus social space ties into the latter.

"There's something really nice about exploring together," Murray told IGN. "So we started thinking about a much larger and expanded online experience."

The game hasn't been turned into an MMO, so don't expect see hundreds of players at a time. But expect to see more players than what you're used to now that Hello Games has brought everyone online.

To flesh out the multiplayer aspect, Hello Games created the social space Nexus. Murray compared Nexus to Destiny's Tower, which is the latter's social hub.

Depending on the platform, you will see 16-32 players in Nexus and you will also see them "in the wild" - this includes those playing the game in VR.

Nexus is more than just a social hub. Here, you can also visit various shops to upgrade your equipment, ship and weapon. There's also a multiplayer missions board. Taking on a mission lets players around you know you've started one, and they can choose to join in.

These missions include bounty hunting, taking photos, going on an archaeological excursions, building a base, and more.

Obviously there's more to the Beyond update that what's in this post, so give the IGN video a watch if you have a minute.
