Nioh's Defiant Honour DLC adds Sanada Yukimura as the toughest baddie yet - it's out now, so go kick his ass

Nioh honours one of the legendary warriors of the Sengoku era by having him beat the snot out of you.

Nioh's final DLC, Defiant Honour, arrives this week and brings with it the most challenging boss enemy yet: Sanada Yukimura. You know that Crimson Master Armour given out as an early adopter DLC bonus? Yeah, that's based on Sanada's signature look. He's kind of a big deal.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Team Ninja revere Sanada as "the greatest and last true samurai" and "could not think of a better candidate as the toughest adversary in Nioh".

The pack isn't just a boss fight, of course, and your adventures during the winter campaign of the Siege of Osaka will also see you come face to face with the famous ninja master Sarutobi Sasuke, who served as Sanada's bodyguard.

The pack also adds a new weapon, the tonfa, to Nioh, which should please Ninja Gaiden fans, and two new guardian spirits, Enku and Nurarihyon. Here's a trailer:

Defiant Honour is the second of three planned DLC packs for Nioh so don't expect Sanada to hold the throne for long; even tougher baddies are around the corner. The next pack, Bloodshed’s End, is set during the summer campaign and will see an end to the Siege of Osaka and, arguably, the Sengoku era.
