Nioh 2 PS4 patch adds cross-save ahead of PS5 remaster launch

We're very close to the release of Nioh 2 on PS5, and it's time to back up your saves.

Team Ninja has rolled out a new update for Nioh 2 on PS4. The update mainly brings a number of bug fixes, and a few balance changes, but the biggest addition is the cross-save management feature.

The remastered version of Nioh 2, of course, arrives this Friday, February 5 on PS5. The upgrade is available for free to owners of the game on PS4, but given the way PlayStation does things, you'll need to manually upload your existing PS4 save to be able to use it on PS5.

Which is why Team Ninja added this save management feature. It's available under System on the title screen, and it's a simple button press. Once that's done, you'll need to download that save from within the PS5 remaster, when it releases.

If you no longer have access to your PS4 console, you can still download the PS4 version of Nioh 2 on PS5 and do the same thing there. As for Trophies, Team Ninja said that some will be automatically unlocked, while you'll need to re-earn others once again. It seems the hardest ones will transfer, at least, though Team Ninja didn't specify.

Patch 1.24 is available now. This Friday also sees the release of a remaster to the first Nioh on PS5, as well as the PC version of Nioh 2. Cross-play is supported between Sony's consoles, but not with PC.
