Nintendo UK: DSi to be "manufactured and supplied in 2011"

dsi12

Following rumour this morning of DSi being phased out in Japan ahead of 3DS's launch next month, Nintendo UK has confirmed to VG247 that the machine will continue to be made and sold in Britain this year.

"We plan to still manufacture and supply DSi consoles in a range of colours in the UK in 2011," said a rep by email.

The spokesman added, however, that continued supply of the machine was at the consumer's behest.

"On an on-going basis, continuing supply is based on retail and consumer demand," he said.

It was rumoured this morning that DSi was being phased out, was no longer in production and that the only units left are in stock inventory.

Looks as though someone crossed some wires.

DSi originally released in Europe in April 2009.

3DS launches on February 26 in Japan. US and European launch details are expected to be released at events in Amsterdam and New York on January 19.
