Nintendo to release Flame Red 3DS in US on September 9

Nintendo's announced it's to release a new 3DS colour in the US from September 9 alongside the release of Star Fox 64 3D.

The launch of Flame Red will come after the console has introduced a worldwide price-cut for the system, which takes hold from this coming Friday, August 12.

The only colours available to date have been Aqua Blue and Cosmos Black, both of which available since launch in Japan back in February, and in Europe and the US in March.

"Nintendo 3DS is poised to be on fire for the holidays, with its new suggested retail price, great games and our new Flame Red color," said NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime.

"With major upcoming releases in the Star Fox, Pokémon and Mario series, in addition to downloadable offerings from Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Video and Netflix, the system offers new and fun experiences to owners on a daily basis."

No European or UK launch details have been announced this morning at the time of writing by Nintendo. When it does - if it does - we'll update this story.
