Nintendo investigating reports of unauthorized account access

You may wish to enable two-step verification for your Nintendo Account due to recent reports of unauthorized account access.

Multiple reports have surfaced with Switch owners stating their Nintendo Accounts have been accessed without their authorization.

Yesterday, there were reports of Switch owners having their accounts showing unauthorized purchases or access.

While Nintendo has yet to confirm such accounts by users, but today, it released a statement to Eurogamer saying it was “aware of reports of unauthorized access" to some Nintendo Accounts and it was investigating the matter.

To be safe, Nintendo has recommended all account holders enable two-step verification for their Nintendo Account. The company also said if you become aware of any unauthorized activity, you should take the steps outlined here or contact Nintendo for general support.

These new reports come just a couple of weeks after Nintendo Japan said third-party logins had accessed data (thanks, GI.biz).
