Nidhogg 2 revealed with new weapons and character animations

The original Nidhogg was a fun, strangely bizzare, and uniquely entertaining gem that made for a wonderful evening of couch gaming with friends. Despite that, I never in my wildest dreams imagined it would get a sequel. Yet here we are - Messhof has officially revealed Nidhogg 2, complete with new environments, characters animations, and countless brutal deaths.

Nidhogg is a fighting game where players attempted to reach the level's edge by any means necessary - be it fencing with swords, hurling weapons at your enemy, or drop-kicking them when they least expected it. Nidhogg 2 uses the same core gameplay, but updates the art style from retro pixels to the 16-bit animation style common in 90s gaming. Local and online multiplayer modes will return, along with a single-player tournament mode. On top of that, Messhof is experimenting with a wider range of weapons, including bows and axes.

Nidhogg 2's platforms aren't explicit, but the original game launched for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Vita. You The original Nidhogg launched for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Vita. It will launch in 2017.
