NHL 14's launch trailer looks more like a beat'em up than hockey

NHL 14 is out today for all of your North-North Americans and Canadians who follow the sport and guess what, there's a trailer with some rock music if you need help deciding whether you want to buy the game. A confused Australian after the break.

Is the amount of violence in the trailer indicative of actual hockey play? As someone who's never really watched a hockey game, that seems really brutal, in a way that standard football collisions probably aren't simply due to the speeds involved. The trailer also really seems to revel in it too, is there a contingent of fans who go to the hockey just to watch people get beat on? In the same way people go to races just to watch crashes.

Anyways, the game's out today on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 if anyone's keen.
