Nexuiz future uncertain after THQ dissolution

The exclusive publishing rights to arena shooter Nexuiz are among a number of unsold assets stuck in Limbo since THQ's bankruptcy and piecemeal sale, and licensee Ilfonic is still waiting to find out what happens next.

"We are still trying to figure out what this means and awaiting details from our contacts handling the transitions at THQ," Ilfonic's Chuck Brungardt told Polygon.

"A small transition team at THQ is still working on the next steps with their remaining IPs. It's probably going to take another month until we can figure out how everything will move forward."

Originally a free-to-play affair, Nexuiz spawned an open-source spin-off, Xonotic, with the title itself licensed to Ilfonic, which produced a 2012 commercial release.

The developer has said in the past it plans to make further releases under the title.
