Next-gen lappy drives boost PS3 load times by 30-40%

Solid state memory's clearly the way to go if you're looking to carve precious seconds of your PS3 load times. This ExtremeTech article has shown that Intel's new 80Gb X-25 solid-state drive can cut 30-40 percent from load times on the machine.

Install times were unaffected, unfortunately, as they're dictated by the speed of the Blu-ray drive.

Don't have a party quite yet, though: the drive's $600.

Plenty more through there. Thanks, Engadget.
