New House of the Dead arcade game could be getting a console port - report

It's been a while since Sega released a new House of the Dead game for consoles, but it sounds like the publisher is at least thinking about it.

Sega has announced a new House of the Dead arcade game in Japan called Scarlet Dawn. The game is being location tested now, and it looks pretty good running on Unreal Engine 4.

We don't usually report arcade game news, especially when it's limited to Japan, but there's one interesting tidbit here that fans of the series will no doubt be excited to hear.

At the end of the session, attendees get to answer a questionnaire about the game, and one of these questions straight up asks whether they'll be interested in a console port of the game. ResertEra forum member SpeedBeatz was among the first few who tested it, and reported back with their impressions.

According to the user, the game takes place three years after House of the Dead 4. The gameplay style also resembles 4's, with the Uzi being the main weapon. The terrible voice acting is intact, though, and that's always good to see.

Facebook group Throwback Tokyo shared an off-screen video showing a tiny bit of gameplay, which you can see below.

Surveys about unannounced games don't automatically mean they're in development, but a lot of times they do. Other times, they reflect a desire by the publisher to greenlight a project. Either prospect would be great for House of the Dead fans.
