New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl's classic mode detailed

New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl is a retread of the original game that adds a bigger story, more characters and other neat features into the mix. However, if you want to go back to the values of the barebones classic you can do just that.

The game drops on June 27 across Japan exclusively for Nintendo 3DS, and in a pre-launch blog post director Shigeo Komori has stressed that the game's classic mode isn't just a straight port of the original.

In fact this time you can make your own party, over 200 Grimoire books that bestow your gang with monster skills and other abilities, as well as signing up for quests at a local guild house. You can even flick between the classic and new soundtracks on the fly, and tackle three difficulty tiers.

Are you an Etrian Odyssey fan? Are you excited for the game's eventual release? Let us know below.
