Netflix Has "No Plans" For a Switch App [Update]

It's not anywhere on the company's radar at the moment.

This article first appeared on USgamer, a partner publication of VG247. Some content, such as this article, has been migrated to VG247 for posterity after USgamer's closure - but it has not been edited or further vetted by the VG247 team.

Update: Netflix has upgraded from "no plans" to "exploring".

"We are still exploring the opportunity with Nintendo, but don’t have definitive plans to share at this time," a Netflix spokesperson told Polygon.

These days, game consoles tend to do more than just play games. Most of the recent consoles also have a host of media applications, like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, Crunchyroll, and more. The Nintendo Switch has had a great first year, but outside of the release of Hulu, some fans are wondering where the rest of those apps are.

According to Netflix, you'll be waiting on their Switch app for a while.

That's not say to Netflix won't eventually have an app for the platform, but it's not currently planned. Netflix has previously released its app on the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

M.H. Williams is new to the journalism game, but he's been a gamer since the NES first graced American shores. Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
