Multiple China-related Call of Duty domains registered by Activision

Activision registered several new domains this week tying the Call of Duty series to China, including the likes of ModernWarfareChina.com and CallofDutyChina.com.

17 new domains were registered by Activision on June 25, through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor. These included both China-related Call of Duty titles, as well as the English spelling of Chinese phrases.

The exact reasoning for the registrations is unknown at present.

The next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops II, is due for release on November 13. Part of the game will focus on a new cold war between China and the United States, set in 2025.
