Mortal Shell debut gameplay shown off, closed beta for PC runs July 3-10

Souls-like RPG Mortal Shell is getting a closed beta, and the first gameplay footage was shown off today.

Mortal Shell is the debut game from indie studio Cold Symmetry, a team made up of AAA industry veterans.

The first gameplay shown of the souls-like was shown today during IGN's Summer of Gaming event.

The video provides a look at gameplay and explanation on how Shells worl. Each Shell features its own lore and are found across the game's world, and each offers unique combat styles when you inhabit them. The more time you spend with one, the better your connection with it will become, allowing you to get more upgrades.

Coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Q3 of this year, a closed beta test will take place on PC July 3-10.

In the tester, you will be able to try two Shells, and use either the Hammer and Chisel or the Hallowed Sword in battle. After finding your first shell you will need to find the Crypt of Martyrs, which is a catacomb (thanks, Gematsu).

Beta keys will be handed out on the game's social media accounts: TwitterFacebook, and Instagram. You can also keep an eye on the game's Discord server, and keys will also be handed out randomly to those join the mailing list.
