Mortal Kombat to have "most robust online" system for a fighter

Mortal Kombat's lead designer, John Edwards, has said the game will have "the most robust online fighting game system ever imagined".

Speaking with Gaming Union, Edwards said NetherRealm Studios is planning quite a few things for new Mortal Kombat.

"We're planning on having DLC for a lot of things," he said. "Maybe new characters, new Fatalities, it's pretty much open for anything. We have support on the back end for backgrounds, new attacks, tweaks to fighting styles, all that.

"We have a really robust online system. I can't go into too many details but it's going to be pretty much the most robust online fighting game system ever imagined.

"Just look forward to it."

The new Mortal Kombat will include four-player and two-player modes, and last week, a shot taken of what appeared to be a character screen for the game showed 26 fighter slots available.

It’s out next year on PS3 and Xbox 360.
