More Project Mercury details spilled at GDC

38 Studios

Speaking at GDC, 38 Studios' R.A. Salvatore has revealed a little more information on the upcoming RPG from the studio.

Salvatore, the executive creator of worlds at the studio, said the game was based on a MMO made by him and 38 Studios, known as Copernicus.

He said that him and the studio have also been building a massive background for the series and Mercury before work began on it.

"That was what I insisted on. We need a huge history. We need deep threads so we're all going to be painting on the same canvas," said Salvatore.

"You need consistency. It has to make sense. The way the races interact with each other has to make sense. You have to know how it all fits together. The way you do that is you do a history of the world."

Earlier this week, 38 Studioshad announced it entered into a publishing deal with EA over Project Mercury, although no more details were provided on it.
