Minecraft Xbox One release date is September 5

Xbox One owners will finally be able to get their mitts on Minecraft from this Friday, September 5.

Xbox 360 owners can upgrade to the new-gen version for $4.99/£3.99, while everyone else can splash out the full $19.99/£14.99. All DLC and worlds created in the 360 version can also be transferred over to the new console too.

The Xbox One version supports four player split-screen and 8 players over Xbox Live. Worlds are said to up to 36 times larger than the are on Xbox 360.

The PS4 version of Minecraft is likely to arrive tomorrow, but we're still waiting on the Vita release.
