BioWare's Mike Laidlaw discusses the Rivalry system in Dragon Age 2

BioWare's Mike Laidlaw has shed more light on the interaction system in Dragon Age II, mainly the Rivalry system which the development team didn't feel was a good fit for Origins.

Speaking with Gamespot at an event for the game, Laidlaw described the Rivalry system for Hawke and members of his party as a way to "agree to disagree."

Laidlaw also chats a bit about the storytelling element, and how with two different people poking around Hawke's backstory, it gives the player a different perspective on the character they will be playing.

You can watch the video interview below, but be aware that it contains a lot of background noise.

A demo for Dragon Age 2 will be released on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 February 22. It’s out on March 8 in the US and March 11 in Europe.

Previews for the game went live yesterday, as well as a new trailer featuring Hawke and the different roles players can choose for him in the game.
