Square Enix has announced it's appointed Mike Fischer as its US CEO.

Fischer was appointed after former US boss John Yamamoto was asked to be an advisor to the company and overall CEO Yoichi Wada.

"We are pleased to have the benefit of Mike's global leadership experience in interactive entertainment and look forward to the significant contribution he will bring to the growth of our North American business," said Wada.

After tenures at Sega, Namco and Microsoft UK, Fischer will oversee the Square Enix brand in the US, including Square itself, Eidos and Taito.

On Yamamoto's appointment as an advisor, Wada added: "We sincerely thank John for his years of hard work in the role and are pleased that he will continue to support us as an advisor."

Congrats to both.
