Mighty No. 9 launching in February

Mighty No. 9 has a release date at last.

The North American release date for Mighty No. 9 is February 9 2016, Comcept has announced.

The rest of the world will be able to get their paws on it as of February 12. It's coming to 3DS, Linux, Mac, PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

According to a Kickstarter update, "Inti Creates and Deep Silver have been hard at work clearing up any remaining issues with the online modes included in Mighty No. 9," allowing the three companies to luck in a launch date.

It'll be good to see Mighty No. 9 in the wild. Backers forked over $3.8 million during an October 2013 Kickstarter campaign and coughed up more in further crowdfunding effort, but have had to endure a couple of delays - from April to September 2015, and then into Q1 2016. Even a demo promised as an apology for the delays was itself delayed - and all that despite the project apparently being "pretty much finished" in January.

Mega Man fans showed a great deal of faith in Keiji Inafune and his team in funding the project, but the many delays seem to have subdued their interest a bit; Comcept's Red Ash Kickstarter failed. Perhaps the team should have another go once Mighty No. 9 is in player fans.
