Microtransactions in Destiny: emotes, prices - everything you need to know

Destiny now officially contains microtransactions and a new currency you can spend real-world money on. Find out all the details.

Starting today, there's going to be one more currency players can use in Destiny. This new currency is called Silver, and you will not be able to earn it in-game. Rather, you can only acquire it through spending real-world money.

Silver can be bought through PSN or the Xbox Store as you would with any DLC etc. You can only spend the new currency at the Eververse Trading Company in the Tower. Tess Everis, one of the vanilla game's vendors, will return to man the new kiosk.

As it stands right now, character emotes are the only thing you'll be able to buy using Silver. There are 18 in total, available to all three classes. These can be dances or a number of different moves. On launch, Bungie will give all players some free Silver to spend and try out a few emotes.

Here are Silver prices in real-world money in the US and UK:

500 Silver - $4.99/£3.99
1000 Silver (+ 100 bonus Silver) - $9.99/£7.99
2000 Silver (+ 300 bonus Silver) - $19.99/£15.99

And here's all 18 emotes with their Silver values:

Legendary emotes will run you 500 Silver, Rare emotes will cost 200 Silver. At this point only Enthusiastic Dance and Slow Cap are Legendary emotes.

Also, you can only equip one at a time, but, once you've bought your new emote from Tess you get 15 minutes to return it if you're not happy about it.
