Microsoft's "artificial channeling" makes XBLA "inhospitable for certain games," said Blow

"Artificial channel" on the part of Microsoft means Xbox Live Arcade is becoming "inhospitable" in regards to other titles coming to the service, Braid and Witness creator Jon Blow has said to Penny Arcade.

Blow suggested that could potentially open the door to other titles heading towards Steam.

"If I go to Steam I can sell a game for $25, but if I go to Xbox Live Arcade I can’t," he said. "In fact, the contract says I can’t control the price at all. That artificial channeling is sort of making their platform inhospitable for certain kinds of games.”

Blow said Valve had a group of indie developers in its Seattle HQ to see what was coming for Steam, coming away "super impressed" with what was seen and chatted about.

"[Valve] had a bunch of indie developers up there, and they wanted to show us their plan, and talk about whether it meets our needs for getting our games on [Steam]."

He admitted, however, that Valve was addressing one of its main concerns in the form of the submission pipe, admitting that "some really good games get lost" within.

There's more at the link. Blow's next game, The Witness, launches this year.
