Microsoft to introduce TV-like adverts for Xbox Live

Microsoft is to roll out TV-like advertising for Xbox Live, with adverts set to show in video services currently on Xbox 360.

Its also announced that streaming from Manga Entertainment will be introduced soon.

"With the growth of Xbox Live, advertisers no longer have to choose between digital and TV advertising - we're offering the impact of TV and the interactivity and addressability of digital in one platform," said Xbox Live advertising GM Ross Honey.

"As more and more industry leaders like ESPN work with us to help monetize their content on Xbox Live, TV media buyers win with the ability to extend their standard TV spots to this highly engaged consumer audience."

Advertising revenue on Live has gone up for Microsoft by 142% since 2010, with US gold subs spending on average 84 hours a month signed into Live.

Microsoft also said entertainment app usage has surpassed online gaming usage for the first time ever
