Konami working with engineers on Metal Gear Solid 5-themed prosthetic for double amputee

Konami's working with a team of engineers to create a prosthetic limb for Metal Gear Solid 5 fan James Young.

The 25-year-old lost an arm and leg in 2012 when he was dragged between two rail carriages of the Docklands Light Railway.

Modeled after Snake's prosthetic limb in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, the "highly stylized and multi-functional limb" is being designed by Sophie De Oliveira Barata who specializes in creating custom prosthetics for amputees through the Alternative Limb Project.

The purpose of the project is to create personal prosthetics in which people look upon with "amazement instead of looking away".

Konami, Barata and engineer team roboticists and product designers all have a hand in creating the limb for Young.
