Metal Gear Online beta temporarily taken offline "due to a possible exploit"

The Metal Gear Online beta has been taken offline temporarily.

This is according to a pinned post in the game's discussion forum on Steam. It was brought to our attention when a friend we were on the phone with starting bitching loudly about it.

The beta was made available yesterday as of 10pm PT before it was pulled.

So, what exactly is this exploit? Kotaku says it has something to do with folks bypassing microtransactions.

Doing a bit of internet scouring, and coming upon a post by Polygon, also stated the reason provided for the pulling was "a potential exploit" and a hotfix was in the works.

However, when you look over MGO community manager Robert Peeler's posts on Steam, it never mentions a micro-transaction issue unless we just can't find it. Which isn't too far-fetched.

Konami says it will let everyone know when the beta goes back online.

Thanks for making my ears ring, ffronw.
