Medal of Honor producer almost quit over 2010's Taliban controversy

Medal of Honor executive producer Greg Goodrich has said in an interview with Games Master he almost quit over the Taliban controversy which erupted after mainstream media outlets learned of the inclusion.

Goodrich told the magazine, via CVG, that he had many a sleepless night over the incident and even wrote a letter of resignation - twice.

"Having to deal with the secrecy of these communities, keeping their reputations intact and holding their livelihoods in the palm of my hand - not even having earned the right to yet... then having that break out,” he said.

"There were a lot of things going on. There were two specific incidents when I decided I just couldn't do it... Everything that these guys have built and lived for over the last 15-20 years of their careers is now in my hands.

“I took that very seriously and had a lot of sleepless nights and did a lot of staring at my ceiling thinking 'what have I gotten myself into?”

After various politicians, soldiers and their families pressured EA to pull the content,  Danger Close changed the playable faction to Opposing Force, nixing the Taliban name altogether.

Goodrich and his team are currently working another game in the Medal of Honor franchise, subtitled Warfighter, and it's slated for an October release.
