Matterfall got an E3 2017 trailer with an actual, honest-to-goodness release date, amazing

It's an E3 trailer post that doesn't end in "no release date". Blessed be!

Matterfall is the newest game from Housemarque, the loveable bunch responsible for Super Stardust, Outland, Resogun and Alienation.

As you'd expect from a studio with a CV like that, it's a gloriously beautiful affair filled with sensational colour explosions.

There's a story, of course, and the story is this: our hero is struggling to escape a devastated world infected by the deadly alien Smart Matter. The only way to survive is to shoot the s**t out of it, which makes for very pretty explosions.

It's an agile platformer crossed with a sidescrolling shooter, basically, only you are welcome to giggle and say "groovy" throughout. Admire it in its full glory via the trailer above, which was another of those Sony totally failed to mention during its E3 2017 showcase.

In case you're too tired to process the numbers at the end of the trailer, I'll interpret them for you: Matterfall releases August 15. Yes that's right: it has a release date. Does Sony know? Has it tried to suppress the news yet?
