Matsuura: Lack of international teams a problem for games industry

PaRappa the Rapper creator Masaya Matsuura fears the games industry will schism if we don't see more international collaborations.

"Currently, our business style is a huge change from ten years ago," the NanaOn-Sha founder told Joystiq during a studio visit.

"In our country's video game business, still it is very rare to work with western companies to make games. If we can't extend these kind of possibilities, I'm worried about each territory's game business going in a different direction."

Dewi Tanner, the company's development director, agreed, saying that unlike unsuccessful collabprations, the team has a very close relationship Zoe Mode, with which NanaOn-Sha developed the charity-benefit rhythm game WINTER.

"They're not doing it correctly, is the problem. Our relationship with Zoe Mode is very tight," he explained.

"We make creative decisions together, and with the publisher, Microsoft, as well."

NanOn-Sha is working on a Kinect-exclusive title called Haunt, which we saw in Sydney in August.
