Mass Effect Trilogy won't have a FemShep cover, but "something special" inbound

Mixed messages from EA and BioWare cause both disappointment and hope among FemShep fans.

Hoping to see gaming's leading lady on the swish Mass Effect Trilogy packaging, Kotaku asked EA whether the collection would release with an alternate cover showing the official female version of Commander Shepard, or FemShep, instead of poster boy BroShep.

The publisher's representative answered in the negative, which is disappointing - especially as fans successfully campaigned to get FemShep on a reversible cover for the standard edition of Mass Effect 3, as well as on the collector's edition steelcase.

Shortly thereafter, questioned over the matter by fans, the game's official Twitter issued the following mysterious update:

"Well, we've got a little something special planned for FemShep coming, so keep that chin up."

"Not with the cover art. We're doing something separate," it added.

The Mass Effect Trilogy compiles all three games into one package, and launches in November for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will be the first time the original Mass Effect has been available on PS3.
