Mass Effect Legendary Edition PC – here are the minimum and recommended requirements

You have a few months to make sure you can run these remasters of the iconic RPG games.

After years of rumours and speculation, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is finally launching later in 2021.

Now thanks to the game's Steam page we have an idea of what kind of hardware you need to run this new-and-improved version of BioWare's iconic sci-fi RPG series.

The minimum specs for the game are an Intel i5 3570 or AMD FX-8350 CPU, while users need to have 8GB of RAM. On the graphics card front, players need a GTX 760 if they have Nvidia hardware and either an AMD 7970 or R9280X if they're AMD people. You also need a minimum of 2GB of video memory.

The recommended specs for the game are an Intel i7-7700 or AMD Ryen 7 3700X CPU, while EA says it's best to have either an Nvidia GTX 1070 or RTX 200 card, or a Radeon Vega 56 CPU. It's also best to have 16 GB of RAM and 4GB of video memory.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition collects the first three entries in the beloved RPG franchise, as well as all of its DLC, and boasts a wealth of improvements. You can take a look at gameplay for the updated release right here, as well as comparison shots to show the visual improvements the game has seen.

In our preview, we said that this is one of the "sharper 4K remasters" but also said that players shouldn't expect much in the way of changes to gameplay. The first game's long elevator rides – aka loading screens – are much quicker now, though.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is out on May 14 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backwards compatibility. Ahead of its reveal in November 2020, this was quite literally one of the worst-kept secrets in the games industry.
