Square Enix servers hit hard as Marvel's Avengers beta players register for new accounts en masse

Things may be slower than usual today for Marvel's Avengers beta players looking to register new Square Enix accounts.

The Marvel's Avengers beta technically doesn't go live until later today, but servers are already up for some on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Unfortunately, what many didn't count on was having to create a Square Enix account to be able to play. Needless to say, there are so many all trying to get an account at the same time. The fact the Avengers beta is free for everyone on PS4 this weekend also doesn't help.

Regardless, the game's official Twitter account acknowledged the increased volume of account registrations, and confirmed the problem is being worked on. Until that's sorted, your confirmation email will take longer than usual.

If you can't play Marvel's Avengers this weekend, catch up on our beta impressions, and check out the recently revealed PC specs for the beta. The free PC beta kicks off next week. Here's how it all breaks down.
