Man sentenced to 18 months for distributing virus inside Call of Duty hack

Lewys Martin, of Deal, Kent has been sentenced to 18 months for distributing a virus inside a Call of Duty hack.

Martin used the virus to monitor user keystrokes in order to obtain bank and credit card details he then sold through a website for anywhere between $1 and $5. His profits were deposited in an offshore account located in Costa Rica.

Martin's scheme came to light after he was caught trying to steal computer equipment at colleges located in Dover and Deal while drunk. Inside his house, the police found over 300 credit cards and passwords details as well as a bank loan for £3,000 which proved to be fraudulent.

His original sentence in November was deferred so he could finish his computer course at university, but while out on bail in March 2012, he was busted for breaking into Walmer Science College.
