Majesco is going all digital, new A Boy and His Blob inbound

Majesco is slimming down considerably, but is resurrecting one of its most charming efforts.

Poor old Majesco's been having a pretty rough time of it the past few years, and has elected to pull out of the packaged games business.

Along with its most recent financial report, Majesco announced the appointment of a new CEO, David Rector. Previous incumbent Jesse Sutton will remain onside as a consultant, and has also taken ownership of Majesco's packaged games business as a new, separate company called Zift Interactive.

Majesco, which has cut its staff to just five employees, will now focus on mobile and downloadable titles, and announced two titles: something called Glue, and a new entry in the A Boy and His Blob series. Both will release within six months for new-gen consoles and possibly PC. Developer details were not provided.

In its heyday Majesco was responsible for some pretty popular titles - Bloodrayne, Cooking Mama and Zumba Fitness. It also brought many ports to portables and Wii, and partnered with Double Fine multiple times, most recently for Costume Quest 2.

Its indie publishing title Midnight City has unfortunately now gone very quiet indeed, and Majesco has struggled to stay ahead of NASDAQ delisting.
