Madden 25 will have a team coached by John Madden himself

John Madden will lead an all-star team for the 25th anniversary celebration of the immensely successful franchise that bears his name.

Madden 25 will include a team of players hand-picked from the franchise's entire history called the All-25.

The roster will be revealed gradually over the next two weeks; you can follow along here.

The first member to be named is John Madden himself, serving as coach. In a profile published by EASports, the publisher noted that Madden achieved the second-highest winning percentage of any coach in NFL history, during his career with the Oakland Raiders.

"In 1986, Madden provided the initial direction for the video game series that would share his name. He had one simple rule: 'If it isn’t 11 on 11, it isn’t real football.' Coach Madden vowed not to put his name on anything that wasn’t 'real,'" the post explained.

"In designing and developing the first Madden NFL game, Coach Madden insisted he provide the best playbooks to ensure the most realistic simulation football game possible. John Madden Football would calculate matchups based on individual player stats."

The video below goes into further detail on the famous announcer's career and contributions to the franchise.

Madden 25 is due on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on August 27; PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are due when the new consoles launch at the end of the year.
