LXP: Microsoft trademark identified as in-house Kinect team

"LXP" has been outed as a previously revealed in-house Microsoft development team thanks to a recent rebranding.

According to Territory Studio, a design and branding company, Leap Experience Pioneers is "an in-house games developer for Microsoft based in the US". The group recently decided to rebrand, and brought Territory onboard to provide its astronaut logo.

"They considered themselves pioneers (as their name suggests) and wanted to encapsulate the the spirit of fronteering Americans - combining a cowboy with an astronaut with attitude," Territory said.

This is the most we have heard about LXP since it was first outed by recruiting way back in early 2012. The group, previously known as LEAP, was instrumental in the creation of Kinect and was believed at the time to be working on games for the Xbox One's Kinect.

In August of 2012, Microsoft trademarked the studio name. The recent resurgence of interest in the group was triggered by a new trademark filing for acronym LXP.
