LucasArts confirms layoffs

GI's reporting that LucasArts has confirmed that a set of lay-offs happened this week, admitting that VP of product development, Peter Hirschmann, is no longer with the company.

"Peter Hirschmann's leaving was a mutual decision," a company spokesperson said.

"He brought the company into next-gen development and has nurtured a strong slate through our pipeline. We are very proud of the games we have this year - Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Fracture."

Rumours spread yesterday that up to 100 LucasArts staff had been handed papers in the wakes of Lego Indiana Jones's completion. The exact number let go hasn't been confirmed as yet.
