Here's the first look at Lord of the Rings: Gollum gameplay

Features the titular character sneaking around literal evil.

We've had our first look at the gameplay for the upcoming Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

A trailer for the title (above) was rolled out during GamesRadar+'s Future Games Show Spring Showcase, and depicts the titular character's escape from the fortress of Barad Dur in Mordor. Lord of the Rings nerds will remember that this is where Gollum was taken by the forces of big bad Sauron and was tortured for information about the Ring of Power. He was then freed, so we're not entirely sure why he is sneaking around in this gameplay.

Stealth is seemingly one of the core pillars of the game, with developer Daedalic saying that Gollum is mostly a non-combat title. Apparently, the character is about “cunning not combat.”

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was revealed back in March 2019 with a 2021 release date. The game has since been delayed until 2022 and is coming to both the current PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as the older PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

We had our first look at the game via some screens back in May 2020, before Daedalic released a teaser trailer a few months later in August.
