Lollipop Chainsaw sales pass 1 million units

Lollipop Chainsaw has eged passed 1 million units sold - 21 months after release.

Developer Grasshopper Manufacture noted the sales milestone on Twitter. Lollipop Chainsaw released in June 2012.

While these seems like a small number in the world of Tomb Raider (6 million sales, Square Enix initially unhappy with its performance) and Call of Duty (regularly tops 30 million sales annually), Grasshopper's games are definitely cult releases, and the team seems pretty happy with its success.

We know Lollipop Chainsaw was Grasshopper Manufacture's most-shipped title before Killer is Dead - suggesting the rest of its critically-acclaimed catalogue are unlikely to have reached this milestone.

Grasshopper Manufacture was recently acquired by GungHo, which seems delighted to fund its low-selling eccentricities. The Giochi Suda-led team is currently working on PS4 exclusive Lily Bergamo.
