Little Inferno has sold 1 million units, but studio boss feels some mistakes were made

Little Inferno has sold 1 million units across all platforms, but despite this, Tomorrow Corporation's Kyle Gray feels the game's message was lost on its players.

Speaking in postmortem at GDC 2014, Gray said many people mistakenly thought the game was about "global warming or a critical commentary on freemium games."

"What we were trying to talk about was the team's own neurosis, that we were all hitting 30 years of age and feeling old," he said. "We were concerned with time; making the most of it and not wasting it, like getting out of a job you hate or a bad relationship.

"People in Little Inferno are just doing the same thing and they don't realize there is this whole world out there. We made a game that no-one could talk about.

"Another mistake: It's risky to put all your cool content at the end of the game."

Gray went on to say that since 90% of the title takes place with a fireplace in view, "it made a lot of people feel like it was a very small game."
