Leisure Suit Larry Kickstarter tops goal with six days to spare

An HD remake of classic adventure Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards has secured $500,000 in crowd funding.

The remake comes courtesy of Replay Games and a handful of the original 1981 development team: Al Lowe, Josh Mandel, Sabine Duvall and Leslie Balfour.

The overhaul is more than a visual polish up of the 1990's re-release; it's being built entirely from scratch to support mobile devices as well as PC, with full voice acting and "ultra-high res graphics" - as well as more jokes.

Replay expects to deliver the remake on PC and tablets by October, and may extend to other platforms if extra funding is secured - or presumably, if the later sales are sufficient. The developer has shown interest in further remakes, too.

Leisure Suit Larry debuted in 1981 and produced eight core entries as well as several spin-offs. Later games, developed without the original creators, proved less popular.
