The Legend of Zelda LEGO fails to get approval

The Legend of Zelda was so close to getting the official LEGO treatment after a highly-successful campaign on the LEGO Ideas crowd-voting site, but ultimately, the project failed.

It was the brainchild of creator Wes Talbott, who managed to get his kit through the 10,000 vote qualifying stage. The pack concept sees Link fighting an Iron Knuckle in a dungeon, complete with Master Shield and sword.

In the end, the kit lost out to the Female Minifigure Set, which shows professional lady LEGO characters engaging in scientific, geological and palaeontological pursuits. It's a neat kit with a great message to be fair.

Still, here's a glimpse of what could have been, although we feel Nintendo's lawyers would have nuked this from orbit had it won. It's the only way to be sure:
