LawBreakers has stuttering and hitching problems on PS4, but a patch is coming today

The PlayStation 4 version of LawBreakers has a nasty stutter that crops up at the most inopportune times.

The problems were reported by players since the game went live on Monday evening, and Digital Foundry later confirmed it in its testing.

According to the site, the problem doesn't occur when playing custom games solo, only in public games with other players. For its part, developer Boss Key acknowledged the issue pretty quickly and posted this message for all players to see in the game.

"We are currently aware and investigating a hitching issue on PS4 when joining/leaving a match or changing roles. Thanks for your understanding while we work to resolve the issue," the message reads.

In Digital Foundry's testing, the issue appeared randomly, but it could in fact be a result of another player in the match joining/leaving, or changing roles. These are all very common for a game like LawBreakers.

It's a bit weird for this problem to appear now, though, considering no such reports were made in the most recent open beta. Fast forward to this morning, and the studio managed to locate the cause and issue a fix.

The hotfix is currently in certification testing with Sony, but it should hit the live game later today at around 6:30am PT, 9:30am PT, 2:30pm BST, 3:30pm CEST.

The PC version, which we played and enjoyed, doesn't suffer from the same issue. In fact, it runs pretty well and has no problem reaching frame-rates beyond 120 on max settings, provided you have the hardware for it.
