Konami reports 9.5% net income decline as Pro Evo series sells 69 million units lifetime

Konami has posted its financials for the last nine months of its fiscal 2010, and the period saw a 9.5 percent decline in year-on-year net income.

According to the figures, Konami accumulated a profit of ¥9615 million( $117.5 million) and revenues of $118,308 ($2.3 billion) with a sale decline of 1.4 percent in total. Digital revenue for the firm was down 2.5 percent.

Games sales came in at ¥46.7 billion ($575 million) with the company siting Metal Gear and Pro Evolution Soccer has titles which "progressed favourably," during the April to December period. Sales for the Metal Gear series were not provided, but it was noted that the Pro Evo series had sold 69 million units to date.

"Although the Japanese economy showed signs of recovery from the recession, a difficult business climate persisted in the environment surrounding the Konami Corporation and its subsidiaries, as uncertainty over the future due to factors such as the impact of the appreciation of the yen and deflation," said Konami in its statement.

"We will continue to focus on the expanding overseas video game software market. We plan to launch the latest title of the Winning Eleven series Winning Eleven 3DSoccer for a new platform Nintendo 3DS and intend to develop various titles."
