Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning as big as Oblivion

Big Huge Games is pretty well named - the developer believes Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's map is as large as Oblivion's.

“I’ve looked at this, and if I look at something like Oblivion, it’s very comparable in size,” associate producer Craig Krstolic told GamesRadar.

“They’re slightly different scales, though. In Oblivion you have the central city and the area around that. We have a fairly vast area that’s spread out a little bit more with a lot smaller cities and towns within it.”

Staff attached to the project have made similar noises before. The game has been said to have five distinct regions.

Kingdoms of Amalur will release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February next year. It's being co-developed by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios, and published by EA. Its lore has been provided by RA Salvatore, and the canon will form the basis of an MMORPG.
